The UNO St. Claude Gallery is pleased to announce the upcoming MFA Thesis exhibition featuring the work of artists, Ruth Owens and Natalie Woodlock. The exhibition opens April 14 and runs through May 6, 2018.
Ruth Owens’ exhibition titled, Baby Love, uses film and oil painting to explore her familial experiences from the viewpoint of her German and African ancestry in a fluid sensory experience of racial identity and separation. Natalie Woodlock’s Secret Society explores queer subjectivity and subculture through a series of portraits and sculpture influenced by pop culture, status, and history. A special closing event will be held on Sunday, May 6 from 4-6 pm at the gallery to celebrate the launching of a book that accompanies Woodlock’s Brokeback Mountain piece, which will be featured in the exhibition.
The gallery, located at 2429 St. Claude Ave., will host an opening reception on Saturday, April 14, from 6-9 p.m. The exhibition will run from April 14 -May 6, 2018. Regular gallery hours are Sat-Sun, 12-5 p.m. Please direct any inquiries to Tony Campbell via email at Tonycampbellgas@gmail.com or call the gallery during open hours at 504.948.6939.
